Hi! I have also looked into the Topeak racks/bags. I am curious what mods you made. Is your bike a 29er?I assume you strengthened the adjustable bolt area? Please send pics my way at your conveinence. rcktfanatic34@yahoo.com
Thanks! Pat

Hi Pat! Yep, bike is a steel 29er without any rack or fender eyelets. I’ll take some close-up photos asap, unfortunately I’m in the middle of moving house and I just dropped off the rack at the new place, it’ll be a few days sorry. I might do a separate post about it – some may find it interesting, as I’ve basically made a budget OMM rack.
In a nutshell, though, I used a seatpost clamp that has a built in rack attachment, and then I bolted some plates onto the bottom of the rack where it usually attaches to the seatstay which allow it to clear the frame and mount under the QR skewer (and also lift it up a bit to give plenty of 29er tyre clearance) – photos and details coming soon!
