The Newfoundland T'Railway is a 900 km long linear provincial park created from the former railway line that ran from end-to-end of the province. I recently rode the entire length on a fatbike in ten days. The T'Railway is the playground of ATV's and snowmobiles - I hope to inspire more people to ride it.

Wow!  Thanks for that!  Great trip and write-up.  I wonder if someone
has compiled a resource with all of the great Canadian rail-trails in one
place?  I know there are cross-island trails on PEI and Vancouver island,
and the big Kettle Valley trail system in BC.  I'm not sure what might be
available in the Rockies but you'd think there might be more trans-Canadian trails
through the prairies, making a cross-country trip largely by rail-trail feasible
(if not bone rattling Smiley

Take a look at the Trans Canada Trail site.  They are working to link up all the trails across Canada.

Awesome write up! How difficult was finding water along the way? Did you wild camp every night?

I am currently on tour but when settled somewhere hope to spend some time researching rail trails across Canada as my experience on a few has been some of my favourite riding.

As for the Trans Canada Trail - it is not all rideable (terrain wise and legal wise) and more of a concept. The trail is not being created with long distance travel in mind which is disappointing.

Water was not a problem and, yes, I free-camped the entire way.

Here is a good resource for abandoned railway lines in Newfoundland; it includes not only the main line but also the former branch lines: http://www.graveltravel.ca/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=52%3Aoff-road-on-the-rock&catid=1&Itemid=19
