I have been a "tight" shorts guy for over 20 years.
I want to try some "baggies" for the pockets and less stares as I ride in to a remote town.

What is everybody's favorite "baggy" short and why.

Thanks!

I have tried baggies and find them too hot. I carry a light weight pair of nylon shorts to put on over the "tight shorts when going into a restaurant. And if I am going to be there long I go in and take of the tights and free ball in the baggie boardshorts to get aired out.

As for the stares f um as a white water kayaker I wore a spray skirt and didn't let it bother me. Tho I did see guys who had to have them off with in the first 10 seconds of hitting shore. I also have some friends who wear baggies on group rides because of the stares but again f um I am riding in what I feel comfortable in especially when I am doing longer rides.

I do have a pair of Fox baggies (not sure the version but they were on the low end price wise) but they are so hot that I only wear them on the coldest of mornings and then only for a short rides.

That was what I was afraid of.
Heat and I do not mix well.
I like your idea of a pair of nylon shorts.
Thanks for the tip!

Been using Rapha 'fixed' shorts for recent tours of Wales and Ireland.  May be a bit warm in summer hear though but nice in cooler climes.

Got mine in sale though, full price may put you off!

Any baggie short adds an extra layer, so it will always be warmer. That said I use a pair of Specialized Enduro shorts and they have mesh over the entire front, top to bottom, so less hot than most. (Only on the mens, the wms are full fabric). They are also cut very well, nice and trim not to much bulked up pocketing going on.

I throw my rain knickers on in town if i'm really worried about attracting unfavorable attention in spandex.

I also carry super lightweight nylon shorts (actually just the short part of a pair of zip-offs). The only time I really care about appearance is if I'm eating in a restaurant and looking scruffy enough to put other patrons off their food. Ie: quite often. Smiley

Expensive as all hell, I've been looking toward some Gore Alp-X shorts to double as my anti-spandex setup.

Lightweight poly cargo shorts found cheap somewhere. Probably wally world. Worn over riding shorts. They dry quickly, aren't too hot, are light, and the pockets are nice.
