Anybody have any experience with Appy Trails Mark III...? My only thoughts are it seems to take a lot of stakes [5-6?] and I'm not sure if the user supplies the poles or they are provided. Price is right though...

I have no experience with the tent but these reviews might be useful:

Per a prompt response from the creator, Sam Belew,
"Yes the pole set is included, as are the stakes... The Mark III does take 7 to 9 stakes, but it pins to the ground all the way around."

Looks promising, actually. 1.65 pounds for everything including the poles, stuff sack, and seam sealing.

Price is right, weight is right... However, 7-9 stakes is a big turn-off. For backpacking, bikepacking at leisure mode and with the sun up, it's not a big deal to work out all that staking. I'm looking for something that's easy to pitch at night, when I'm dog tired and brain-dead... Something that beats the TarpTent Moment...

Have you checked out the Tarptent Contrail? It is 9 oz lighter than the Moment (w/pole, it weighs 26 oz), $70 cheaper, and pitches in about 90 seconds (60 seconds w/practice).  It does take 4 stakes, though (if it is really windy/stormy, two extra side stakes may be worth the extra  oz or so, though not necessary, YMMV).  I do like tents, though, for bikepacking, particularly when it is raining.  I like being able to get up, get dressed and get most of my stuff packed (gear, clothes, pad, bag, etc.) while sitting up in a dry tent b/f going out in the rain.

Big fan of my Tarptent Contrail. Would like a Moment too.

Cpntrail is 4 stakes minimal. 5 or 6 typical. 8 for bad weather.
Moment is 2 I think minimal.

Contrail is also on the Short List. Weight [27 oz?] delta under Moment shrinks about 2-3 oz when you factor in the added stakes and pole. Seems the weight of the Moment has increased. I thought the older version was 32 oz... Not sure if this is due to the included liner, which I wouldn't use. Used an ultralight Cuben fiber tarp [requiring 6 stakes] and MLD bivy last year, but I got tired of the "precision sleeping" required to stay dry [always looking up to center myself under the ridge seam] and didn't like all the critters bumping into my bivy bag. Yes, weight carried will go up, but it's the weight-weenie tradeoff I'm OK with. If only the Moment were ~4 oz lighter [Cuben canopy and carbon poles], then the 2-stake simplicity would completely woo me...

I have the appy trails mark 3. It's easy to pitch, saved me in a glarly hail storm on a day ride. Weighs in at 715 grams. 80 grams for the 8 stakes. The center pole folds twice and fits in my camelback. I don't use the second pole. There is barely enough room for one person and you will contact the walls especially with your feet.  The center pole is kinda in the center. I will dedicate a bag on the handlebars for this,it will probably be stuffed while wet. Peace of mind carrying a building with me. I like it, worth a hundred bucks. The seller was pleasant.
