Plan is to depart from the Utah border on Saturday afternoon 5/23 and ride to the North Rim. Drop bikes with shuttle driver and hike the GC in 2 days and then ride the AZT to Flag. For me this will complete my segment riding of the entire AZT in the last 4 years or so.
I got a Spot so the family could follow along as we tour for 6ish days and since I enjoy that component of the Iditarod, the AZT 300 and other races I figured I'd share for those who are stuck behind a desk like I normally am.

Very cool, Yuri.  I'll look forward to following along.

Troy, Blair and Brian went North to South in 06 with some sweet improv through Sedona.

Scott rode it in 2005 South to North to set the record on Andrea's route.

And Scott and Lee did this in 2005 too.

Yep, could be a bit wet.  Shouldn't be an issue on the first few miles, but possibly a bit muddy further up the plateau.

Yuri is well on his way, having climbed away from the Utah state line and the vermilion cliffs, into the forest.  Hope the climbing legs are feeling good, because it's pretty much a day full of climbing.

There's quite a bit of rain in the general area (southern Utah and northern AZ).  Let's hope they're staying dry.

Looks like they camped at the Kaibab Monstercross traditional grounds / start line last night.

Off this morning, and now making good time on the highway (!), I think due to a section of AZT that is still closed from a previous forest fire.  But perhaps due to mud?  We should see the SPOT turn soon back onto the trail if it was the former.

There's still plenty of action on the radar right now north of Flagstaff.  One thing is for sure, it's not hot up there for them!  A good break from the desert heat regardless.

Here's a shot from the AZT near where they'll get back on it:

I think they are planning on starting the Grand Canyon hike tomorrow AM, but it could be Tuesday, too.

I smell a shower in their future as they near the park perhaps even a room before they make the trek across the canyon. Great job guys!

That was a fantastic trip. Day one was rain, hail, mud and climbing. Slow going but incredible scenery. I'm starting to put up pics on my blog.

Great pictures and some pretty crazy moments, it sounds like.  25 gallon jug in a campfire?!

Yuri's blog is:

Check out his pics.  Congrats on wrapping up the entire AZT.  I believe you are the first section rider to complete the whole enchilada!
