Pretty funny, decent reviews, and possibly nice christmas (gag) gift idea. Anyone else seen this offering from Adventure Medical Kits:

I guess it's fine for the Ultralighters but it's no where near as comprehensive as the deluxe kits you can find out there.  Like anything, you need to decide what you're willing to compromise on.

Yeah, but what does it weigh?
That depends on how long it is.

Very tasteless comment ... aren't we here to talk about bikes, trips, and gear? Leave your macho ego at home!

Hey, lighten up. None of the comments in this amusing thread attack or demean anyone. They may not be compatible with your sense of decorum and taste, but that is no reason for anyone to stay home.

And there is no reason to have comments like that on a cycling forum/website. We're here to talk about bikes, trips etc...

Interesting product which should be added to the gear review section.  Since this is an older thread, thanks for reviving it Ridebikeme, one of our forum members has probably tested the kit and can provide a detailed review of its performance in the field. icon_biggrin

You tell um Toby you have certainly taken a few licks on this site but never once have you cried foul. Well maybe once but at least you don't let anything stop you from posting up from your perspective.

This is a big site but with no specific regional audience and there aren't as many of the usual petty squabbles that seem to be the major part of other MTB oriented sites.

That's about the only thing missing from this site a forum where bikepackers discuss outside topics amongst ourselves. Not that there is any real reason for one. But it is always funny to see someone asking off topic questions at MTBR's 9er forum as if they feel it is only the opinion of other 9er riders that count. Then again it really is only the opinion of other bikepackers that matters on any subject.

One for each condom and one for some other unmentionable indecent. Think leakage. But why only one disposable bag.

I'll say up front that I am a newbie at bikepacking and am trying to learn as much as possible as quickly as posible so please don't laugh at my questions about the Backcountry Intimacy Kit.

Question No. 1
I am not a smoker but for the benefit of those who are, where are the two cigarettes?

Question No. 2
How do you think the super ultralight backpackers who go to such extremes as removing the labels from their clothing and chopping the handles off their toothbrushes would reduce weight of items in the kit?  Trim shorter?  Holes perhaps?

Like I said, I am quite serious in asking these questions so you guys better not laugh.   Wink

But but but but but so so so many jokes are popping into my head.

No seriously I would never make fun of posters with serious questions.

Q 1. I have not smoked in years about 20 years at this point. When I did smoke it wasn't very often maybe 3 a day. Cigarettes get stale as least once open and I would bet there is a certain shelf life even when packaged just a guess. But I should think a properly stored condom would last a while.

Q 2. I assume you are talking about the bag the whole thing comes in because holes in the condoms sounds like it would defeat the purpose. Trim shorter well maybe you could but clearly Toby can't.

Wait a minute this whole thing is a complete joke clearly. I went back and check the OP just to make sure we weren't being had here. It does seem like the kind of thing you see trolls posting at other sites.  Turns out he is a legit member here and has posted up on other topics he wasn't just a one post Johny logging in just to get a laugh. Though I think he must have been thinking this site could use a little humor.

Pretty funny, decent reviews, and possibly nice christmas (gag) gift idea. Anyone else seen this offering from Adventure Medical Kits:

MountainGear looks like a legit operation but I gotta think they meant this as a half joke at least.

Stumpbumper you newbies in the bikepacking community have it made with this site. Those of us who started bikepacking back in the day had to figure this shit out the hard way. Just kidding maybe.

Any way welcome to the wonderful world of bikepacking feel free to post up any questions you have I am sure the community here will help out in any way it can. But be aware that non of us seem to come up with the same answers as there is no one right or wrong way to get things done. But there are a few things that a lot of people have found that work better then others. Your mission is to deduce from all of that and figure out what works best for you and you style of riding in the area you ride.

Enjoy

Dog bless us every one.

My reply above was made totally in jest and meant to be funny  Wink  Wink  Wink  Wink

Unless you too were joking I don't believe you quite grasped what I meant about two cigarettes missing from the kit.  In a lot of the old movies (and some of the more recent ones) it is common to see a couple light up weeds immediately after having sex.   sleepy1

As for holes in the condoms, it would not surprise me to see an extreme minimalist backpacker do just that to reduce weight.   headbang

Happy trails  icon_biggrin
