I love those mountains, a few years back I hiked around Torla/Broto with my wife for a few days. The Pyrenees are so beautiful! What I liked the most, besides the super cheap wine and food (well after spending time in Barcelona!) was the small huts and chapels in the middle of nowhere, that the kind of thing we don't have here. Love it! can't wait to go back with the bike next time.

Like your pictures. Especially last light in the hut and where table and campfire going. Keep on riding and post more

Thanks for your comments!
I am glad you like the photos, but I am afraid that is not going to easy to make another report until spring. Autumn and winter use to be very wet around here...
Aralar is a prepyrenean mountain range, wich is on the west. And the hut we slept is in place called Igaratza. The village where we begun the route is 25km in the south of San Sebastian and 100km from Bilbao.
We are very lucky to live here.

Stunningly beautiful country. Thanks for the share, Stormy. Been dreaming lately about Trans-Alps, but I see I had better expand that idea a bit. The Basque Country and Spanish are the some of funnest and warmest people anywhere, I've found. I'd be stoked to party on your turf Salud! Mike Oh, and about "Despite my bikepacking experiences are not as numerous as the most active bikepackers of the forum..." Enthusiasm and attitude trump mileage any day. Stay psyched...

Congratulations on the nice trip. I live in the same area and it's nice to see there are other people going bikepacking in the area.

Do you have a gpx track of the route you could share? Roughly what is the season for riding this?

I would like to see the track too. I live in the same area and yesterday I did a day ride (50 km) in the same area and it was absolutely beautiful, with the autumn colors at its best. This is the track of my day trip, not the one of the original poster, but will help you to locate the area in case he doesn't see your post: http://es.wikiloc.com/wikiloc/view.do?id=3560158It was so nice that I regretted not carrying my bikepacking gear to spend a couple of days in the area, but today it is raining a lot so maybe it was a good idea to come back home. This time of the year the colors of the forest are stunning but the weather can be rainy and the days much shorter. There was even some snow last weekend. I´d say between mid june to mid september is when you have better chances to find good weather

I am sorry for not answering before, but i did not realize that there were new replies oon the post. Thanks again for your positive comments. Blackhound and spiruline, i don´t know if I don´t remenber if I save the complete track of the route, but I will try to send you something in few days. The best season for it is from June to September/October. Weather uses to be rainy in this part (North) of the Basque Country, and I think that those are the dryest mounths. Spiruline, nice video. I was in Urbasa on friday too!!! The views and the wood were amazing. Urbasa is a "must been" in autumn. Those are some photos I took on friday, I hope you like them...
