so glad someone asked this question. I've been debating between Porcelain Rocket and Revelate, but the price point seems to be driving me to Revelate. Is the extra money worth it to go PR?
It might depend on how fast you want to get the bags - last I'd heard (September 2012), Scott at PR was looking at a new approach to make his business even better, and not accepting any new projects until at least November, or something. Even then, he mentioned he was only going to accept a limited number of orders when he starts back up again. Good luck on your decision. I've got some old Revelate pogies, and they still work awesome. My PR bags are worth every penny, too. Steve

+1 for Scott at Porcelain Rocket.
Quality is top notch (This is your former coworker, Troy, and as you are well aware, I am the "quality guy") Lead time was a bit long since I ordered at the peak of demand and needed custom stuff. durability I cannot speak to yet as I have only been out on a couple rides long enough to need them. Looks bomber though. communication was great.
Would not hesitate to buy from him again.
Cheers, Troy

Just got my full frame bag from Greg (Bolder Bikepacking Bags) turn around time was excellent, even with me making a change after bag was completed which caused Greg rework Greg was great to work with, I am very pleased with bag quality and look of bag I will post pictures when I can ride next I would recommend to everyone

I got my bags from Phantom Pack Systems and have been really happy with them so far. Tim made a custom frame bag and even let me pick the outline thread color. I've only gotten a couple trips out with them so far but they feel bombproof.
Quality - Excellent. Durability - Feel very durable, but can't truly attest to this since I've only taken them out a couple times. Communication - Excellent Turnaround time - pretty good; it took a couple weeks for me to get my bags after I'd sent in the template for my oddball-shaped frame bag. Price was very reasonable for what I got. Would (and have) recommend to others.

If I had a hot sister I'd let her date Scott from Porcelain Rocket. He's the man.

I've had good luck with Oveja Negra...Top quality stuff. It's not overly fancy, but continues to surprise me with its utility.

I'm using a combintaion of Revalate (viscacha set bag), and Bedrock Bags (handlebar bag with add on pouch, and custom framebag). All are great. Somewhat limited use, but love it all. Fully packed I still feel comfortable riding almost everything. Both manufacturers have done a great job designing thier products. It all stays where you want it, and is convenient to use. Andrew at at Bedrock was easy to work with, delivered everything as discussed and was very helpful. Highly recommend. Cheers!

I have thousands of miles with Porcelain Rocket bags and have never had a single issue. My first bags from Scott are still as functional as if they had just been made. Two big thumbs up for Scott and his product.

Another thumbs-up for Greg Wheelwright/Bolder Bikepacking gear. Dude needs to get a proper website together so he can get the same attention PR and Revelate get...I have a frame pack and two gas tank style bags from him, I haven't exactly put them through the kind of abuse that some people have but they've served me well and he is great to work with.
I also have the handlebar Sling and Pocket from Revelate, which work great as well. The Sling is really small, light and simple, but I'm able to get a really large volume of stuff lashed to the handlebars with it and stability has been just fine. Too bad it's not sold anymore.
