Thoughts on the best light weight packable camp shoe after being on the trail all day?

bread bags.
Seriously, I hate carrying an extra pair of shoes. I just use a couple bread bags and put them on my feet if I feel I must get up to do something. But if I'm in camp, then I'm probably sitting or lying down.
My buddy likes crocs or some other pair that he can roll up. He got them from REI.

Along the same lines...
I just wear my Rocky Goretex socks around camp at the end of the day. If the conditions and ground permit though I always like to go barefoot.

Crocs, but that homemade insole deal looks pretty sweet.
I would have a tough time taking someone seriously walking around my camp with breadbags on their feet!
"Hey Johnny Ryall, nice shoes!"

I'd feel the same way about someone who worries about having "camp shoes".

This is something I definitely bring along. Despite the fact that some here seem to be mocking it, for riding, I have stiff shimano clipless shoes. They are a nightmare to walk around in, so I carry some lightweight Sanuk sandles and have yet to regret it: http://www.amazon.com/Sanuk-Standard-Mens-Slip-On/dp/B00272LKNA

I usually don't bring anything but a cheap/ light option that work well are those flip flops they sell at grocery stores.

Some trips are about having camp time or off of the bike time, having a simple camp shoe/sandal is great. If it's all about moving forward/racing not so much.
Do to the fact that my feet are fucked up from climbing falls I don't walk well barefoot, so for me the camp sock are a minimum for walking.
Flip flops seem like the cheapest lightest store bought easy way to go. Not a big fan personally, again with the fucked up toes. But I really like the looks of Murf's insole sandal, I'll have to keep an eye out for a cheap way to get the insole part.

i have a pair similar to these from a tai chi class: http://www.karatedepot.com/cl-sh-28.htmli've used these on overnights where i wanted something other than my riding shoe. i think if the time is spent 'camping' then a shoe or sandal makes sense. otherwise, just my MTB shoes with the velcro and ratchet opened way up, and a fresh pair of socks. maybe something here for DIY ideas: http://www.allwaysbarefootsandals.com/order.aspsome thin rubber and some cordage...

We use crocs, they are cushy and keep your feet somewhat warm when it is chilly and weigh very little. A good blend of comfort and weight.

I am using these: http://www.vivobarefoot.com/us/mens/ultra-pure-mens.htmlAbout 7 oz for the pair, and take up almost zero space. I was using cheap flip-flops, but these weigh the same, compress just as small, and work for river crossings. They also allow warms socks when it is cold.

You probably want something that doubles as water shoes for those N-A-S-T-Y campground showers that periodically present themselves ...or on the brighter side various streams, river, ponds and lakes you wander in or across. What would be awesome is a bike shoe with a removable insoles that can be strapped to your feet and include optional micro snowshoe capabilities.

I thought I hated crocs( had a pair several years ago ).... but I just looked at them again while shoe shopping with my kids, and I must say they do seem like a great option for lounging, water(dirty showers), and even light hiking & scrambling.

That insole sandle thang is the bomb. What a great idea.
I don't usually do camp shoes. My cycling shoes are really comfy, so I don't mind wearing them for a week on end. I have a buddy who has a pair of socks he painted with that rubberized "tool dip" which I thought was pretty ingenious.

I ride in trailer runners so I don't feel a need to take them off at the end of the day. If conditions permit I'll just go barefoot. safe riding, Vik www.thelazyrando.com
