I want to get a custom partial frame bag made, similar to the Revelate Tangle but just a bit shorter than their size small. Wonder which specific bladder makes/models are being used in these types of frame bags. My 2L Platypus Hoser looks like it'll be a bit too "girthy" to fit. Don't ya hate it when that happens?

i have a camelbak 100oz (3L) bladder that fits in my large size relevate tangle bag no problem. there is room in the same pocket of the bladder for my hand pump as well and plenty of space in the other side pocket even though the bladder does puff it out a little.

I have a medium Tangle and wasn't able to fit the mouth/filler component of my camelback into the bag very easily without stressing zippers. I switched to a 2L platypus and couldn't be happier. Just make sure to buy the camelback quick disconnect separately so that you can remove the bag without having to rethread everything through everything else. It makes it way easier.
You probably could squeeze a 3L bladder in the medium if you really tried, but I think it would be tight (or you'd have to underfill it.) As of now I usually have space for some trail mix, carrots, and my pump in addition to the bladder.

I use an MSR dromedary in my full and half frame bags. Fill the bladder to near where I think the bag will take it, stuff the drom in, then drink until the zip does up. More storage in the body too!

Short answer: yes. I've seen photos of other people doing that. Long answer, it depends on the frame size (and thus the frame bag size). You should be able to fit approximately the same volume is liquid in a bladder in the bag as the total volume of the bag.

Platy Big Zip. The old ones without the seam in the middle. Longer and skinnier.

Will the 4L MSR fit in a full frame bag?
Should fit in nearly any of the non FS specific frame bags. I was using a 4L MSR Dromedary bag in one of the smaller (16" Surly Troll) frame bags and it fit fine with enough room for a a spare tube and a few other small odds and ends. Worked awesome.

Thanks. I'll go ahead and order the 4L instead of the 2L. Should fit my 18" ECR full frame bag just fine.
