moosevt and I did a quick Fall overnight. Just made it in under 24 hours.
left the house @ 3pm. rode into the night.
road, dirt road, trail, riding in the dark, wayfinding, rain, cold, wet leaves.
failed rear blinky, had some battery issues.
really like the fenix ld20 on the helmet.
the dinotte xml-1 on the bars worked great.

headbang

was great. fire, carried the cook kit, ate dinner at a gas station (decent pizza).
had a porcupine walk along a trail we were riding just in front of us. eventually it climbed a tree to the side.
closed campground was our destination. lean to, bivy. built a nice fire to dry out socks and warm up with.
crawled in bags @ 1am or so, fire was too nice to leave.

sadly it was pave and dirt, with some double and single track.
day 1 was ~58 miles or so.
i think we had 14-15 miles of single / double track.
the rest was 70% pave and 30% dirt.

return trip was 70% pave and 30% dirt, with a short section of connecting trail.

i blocked out the best part of the trip. a 6' length of bailing / utility wire was wrapped up into my rear wheel.

raining, cold. dark. and when i stopped to walk or check the trail, i could swear i heard something following me. not until we paused at a junction did moosevt point out the wire! must have carried it around for 1-2 miles of single track! luckily didn't cause any serious damage. wrapped in behind my cassette, around the wheel to he other side, then around the backside of my rotor. crazy. took us 10minutes to pull it all out. then when i hopped back on the rear derailer was all locked up. took another few minutes to sort that out.

A friend and I did almost the same ride, but reverse order a few weekends ago.  Used more of the Little river trails and headed over to the next town, hoping to ride through the notch and back to Burlington through underhill.  A flat tire (popped in the middle of the night, I though a fuel bottle for a stove exploded) cut the return trip short.  If you are up for another trip/weather permitting let me know.

Pretty colours there in the fall. Thanks for sharing, always nice to see trips and pics, especially in faraway lands!
