With all the rivers and coastal waterways, I?d think there would be some good bikerafting in N.C.

If not on the coast/triad/triangle, then surely are one Asheville. I?ve done some some web searches and not come up with much. Is it potentially the lack of extended trails outside of the western NC mountains? I don?t often see report of people bike rafting on road/gravel bikes...tends to be a fatbike type of thing. Anyone come across any trip reports?

When living in Northern CA, I had often wondered the same thing. Lots of extended trails and waterways, I?d have thought I?d seen more bikerafting info along the N coast of CA and on up through Tahoe.

Have not seen any reports but here are some top of hear thoughts:
* Down the Pee Dee and then bike around Uhwarrie
* Near Hot Springs, NC there is a sub24 that is along the French Broad and Painted Creek Campground.  I suspect there is more to explore on the roads all up around that area
* The New River is good for rafting but not sure of the riding in the area

For sure could ride in Pisgah out of Brevard, float the french broad river to Hot Springs. From there plenty of trails and dirt roads crossing over in Tennessee.
