being a Dutchman I must admit it sound familiar. I do not own a car, just a few bikes... (too many).

for your stove, next time find a Bever zwerfsport (yellow/red Beaver sign) and buy 'Rod-sprit'. Or ask at a drugstore for denatured alcohol. ''lampenolie'' is for old style lamps using a wick.

Thanks Bas, we couldn't find alcohol but now we know what to look for. We have refurbished the stove.
