"Loaded dirt touring" describes the combination of gear+terrain over which your bike fights back like an obstinate mule.
You'll know it when it happens.

The difference between "off-road touring" and "bikepacking" is that "off-road touring" is three words with an awkward character and "bikepacking" is one easy term to sum up the fact that we like to ride our bikes and we like to go backpacking if we can do both then win win.
When I go bikepacking (or what ever anyone wants to call it. how about "Multi Terrain Cycle Touring") Im free and I point my wheel in the direction of my desire weather that be pavement, single track, fire road, mud, sand, snow, gravel, stream, swamp, flatland, upland.......
I Just Ride and sleep outside.

If I am talking to
civilians
I use the term "mountain bike touring" to describe the rides I am doing. It seems to convey the message with the least number of follow on questions.
