Once I did it, there was no going back. The two go hand and hand. Thanks for the comment

Looks like a fun trip. I wish I had such excitement in my backyard.

You've done it again! Great looking trip and gorgeous country. Been threatening to haul my kevlar canoe by bike up to Bernalillo and float back don to Albuquerque. Need a trailer and a relatively windless day.

Thanks for the kind words. Where are you from that there's no adventures there, back east?

Looks like a great trip, just the thing I like to do. Those are some nice photos, what setup? I use the Nikon V1 for its small size but it just isn't giving me the dynamic range I like. Here is a trip report from my recent 2 week Baja bikepacking expedition. I still need to add more photos for the last half: http://forums.bajanomad.com/viewthread.php?tid=70746&page=20

That is a cool trip Mark. Thanks for sharing it. We've been tossing around Mexico ideas for a bit. That desert looks intense.

outasight ! The bike and kit, what weight is going onto the boat ? I'm paranoid. Are there problems with leaving vehicles at trailheads ? for this in trip and generally in your area. Looks like the miners were on the columns... Have you paddled the San Francisco ? Forgive as there is no bike in this link but comment on conditioning, knowledge, and as here, what's required to get out there. http://forrestmccarthy.blogspot.com/2013/07/dumor-packrafting-wyomings-wildest.html

In terms of weight carried on the bike, the packraft set-up is about 12 pounds total, and I often carry it in a backpack, rather than on the bike. But, carrying the raft on the bars/sweetroll is an option. Forest is THE one to follow on gear, etc. Generally it reenforces the bike packing concept of lightweight being key. Any other questions, just ask. southwestbackcountry at g mail dot com
