I also rode a pure v for a while and found it ok.
I had a b17s for a while...i think i have a love/hate relationship with it..it very comfy once broken in, but only in one position, if you are an "active" rider and move  around on your saddle like i do, you will hate the brooks.
I ended up using a chromag trailmaster saddle, someone recommended it to me i, its now my holy grail of saddle.
