Hi folks,

Was wondering if this would work. Got myself a Burley Coho XC trailer so I can take more comfortable items out for camping trips (dried food is fine, but a Dutch oven-cooked meal is soooo good) and then choose to leave it behind if I want a more minimalist experience. Means I can take enough stuff to a campsite for mates, and then unhitch and go fly around the South Downs as I choose.

Was thinking about power and idly started thinking "hey, maybe you can rebuild the trailer wheel with a Son Dynamo hub? Then the trailer is actually charging up a pack for me". Question is: wouldn't know where to start, is it even possible? Any thoughts/critiques welcome!

Should work as long as you can find a rim with the same number of spoke holes. I don't really see why not. Should be 100mm hub spacing on the trailer.

But then, why not on your bike so you can have power even when you're not attached to the trailer? What's the advantage of putting it on the trailer instead?
