I got word that the Cordillera is now available, just in time for another season of divide racing. This is from editor Eric Bruntjen:
I'm very pleased to announce that the long awaited Divide Racing literary review we talked about over the winter
has been released. The Cordillera (Thanks to Matthew Lee for the name) is a 90 page collection of stories,
essays, interviews and poems focused on Divide Racing (both Tour Divide and GDR). We have some excellent authors
in this first edition including Jon Billman (Outside Magazine), Mark Jenkins (Outside Magazine and National
Geographic) and 2009 racers Paul Howard (Two Wheels on My Wagon) and Jill Homer (of Up in Alaska fame). We also
have essays from Scott Morris and the original Divide Racer: John Stamstad!
All proceeds from the sale of the Cordillera go to the Adventure Cycling Association (creators of the GDMBR).
The book will be available on Amazon.com soon but if you order direct from the printer the ACA will get more
money per copy. The link is below:
http://www.lulu.com/product/paperback/the-cordillera-volume-1/11051486 So please buy a copy for yourself and forward the link to your friends and family who followed you during the
race last year. You won't be disappointed. Anyone interested in Divide Racing will enjoy this book, Mike Curiak
calls the Cordillera "... an excellent collection of stories" and predicts that readers will be "surprised,
alarmed and inspired." I think you'll agree.
Best,
Eric
I'd say it's well worth the ~10 bucks! Head to the Lulu link above to order it, and post any thoughts/reviews here once you have a chance to read it.
