Here's pictures from my CT thru bike in July. Casual pace, 16 days, stopped in all towns, lots of lazy time, stayed a few days in Lake City for the hell of it. Mandatory detours only, no optionals. Best trip ever. Just found this site, so thought I'd do my part to keet er'active.  |

Hey Mike, I was wondering when I'd see you on here.
Nice pictures. I can't wait for my trip out there!
I've been exploring a few local routes, though I haven't linked up anything like I hope to in the near future. I've also purchased a new lighter/smaller sleeping bag and have been experimenting with a couple hammocks (one we made and one bought) along with messing with my tent set up with just the fly. Still waiting on a a couple bags. Was hoping for some September trips, but should be good for some November trips.

Good to see you on here Mike! Guess what? I am now the proud owner of a Wingnut 2.5 and 3.0. Not only that, but my best friend just became a sales rep for them. So now I get to see and use all his stuff! I'm going to be using the 3.0 on a bikepacking trip in Arkansas in a few weeks.

MD- I know you're asking the other poster, but I really recommend the Western Mountaineering bags, I can't remember my model name but it's very high quality, comfortable, warm, light, and compressable. Packed down, it's smaller than a football.

Which bag did you get. I`m planning to do a week on the CT this summer
It came down to a Western Mountaineering Summerlite vs. a HiLite. I went for the full length zipper of the Summerlite. Great bags. |

+2 on the awesomitity of WM bags. Nanc and I have been carrying them on our bike tours for about 3 years now. Alaska, Switzerland and some backpacking.

Claytor Expedition Hammock. Heavier than some (most), but...
1) Integrated mousqiuto netting,
2) Integrated pad sleeve,
3) Very high quality.
Treehugger fly. Flies are simple...I've also successfully just used an A-frame tent fly, although the Treehugger is nicer.
I really recommend the Claytor. Yes, it's probably a pound heavier. It's also heavenly to sleep in and warmer, significantly, than an ultra-light hammock.
