Did you get out and bikepack lately? with weekly updates

[Colorado Cool Breeze]

One of my favorite things to do is packup the bike and head out for a day in the woods.
Maybe do a little fishing, have a little lunch, kickback and read a good book.

If you enjoy this type of bikepacking I'd love to see some picts or a post on your outing.

Here's a couple of mine. I'll add more as I get them uploaded. Hope you find them enjoyable.

Day trip Waterton Canyon. Colorado Trail seg 1

Is that a DIY hammock? I have a NoNet Mosquito Hammock, and can't seem to sleep comfortably in it. I get a few hours of sleep at best. I tend to be more of a side sleeper, so I think that's part of my problem. Nice set up, nice to have that  just outside of the Denver metro.

I'm a side sleeper as well. It does take a bit of backyard practice to sleep soundly thru the night.
One trick for me was to get a long hammock.
Mine is 11', this prevents shoulder squeeze and knee hyper-extension.

Also the right amount of insulation(quilts) is important. You don't want to be too hot or cold.
I hammock camp year round. Here's one kit for winter camping.

CCB... sweet set up, my no-net seems very sophomoric in comparison. It was inexpensive, but had a good reputation... I don't know, just couldn't seem to get comfortable.

Not local at the moment, my job is in DTC, currently in CenTex, too hot to even dream of bikepacking at the moment, but the nice weather is just starting down this way.

I even have several hammock from different companies you could try to see if one is more comfortable.

I got out for a short overnighter(very last minute)this past weekend.Did the azt from happy jack to mormon lake lodge and back to stoneman lake area where my truck was.Went pretty smooth,excellent weather,great scenery,

Yes, snapped a handful, CCB. Had plenty of disposable time at a touring pace. I did the CT Foundation's wilderness detours, took rest days, had ridiculous amounts of solo fun. Bolted from Silverton to Durango (via Old Lime Creek Road and 250) to miss impending bad weather...later grabbed a shuttle back up to Molas Pass to ride the last 75 miles of trail. Spent 18 days from the start to Durango including 3.5 rest days; 2.5 days from Molas Pass to Durango.

Not feeling the ride report mojo at all. Happy just to have done it with great memories of awesome riding and meeting up with a few great people. Sometimes that's enough.

PS: Big ups to Salida Bicycle Company, Absolute Bikes in Salida, and Avalanche Cafe in Silverton. Fine establishments manned by people who go beyond the call.

CO, AZ, UT this is the perfect time of year for some of the best riding weather, not too hot or cold.
All the kids are back in school.

offroute, what pass is that? It's not Georgia, or Kenosha. From the color of the rock it's got to be farther South.

You got it, CCB. Somewhere approaching the final high ridges down on the Highline section of segment 28. The four segments that run from Molas to Durango were fantastic...would (did) make a nice little bikepack in itself. Cheers...

So I hit my local stream side trail yesterday in hopes of breaking in a new fishing rod and frying pan.
The fish weren't biting but I did spook this little fellow. It's a 20" long Prairie rattler.




Oh the new pole.



and pan. I always bring some food to cook just in case the fish aren't biting.

Yeah! I'm Neil, and my partner was mike aswell! Right after we saw you we got stuck in a nice storm up on the monarch crest! Either way we finished in 10 day and enjoyed every bit of it! Going to test my luck in the ctr next year! It was really good to see a fellow bikepacker we only ran into another couple near Sargents Mesa! Glad you ha fun out there!

Thank you I'm glad you liked the pictures I like taking them and posting them. Yes, those are trout
fresh caught drifting a fly I tied myself called a Gold Ribbed Hares Ear. Very exciting and very taste.
