First attempt to unicycle the GDMBR, self supported.  I can't even begin to imagine.  She is starting July 1.

Says nothing about self supported though, so I imagine she will have plenty of help, but still a feat nonetheless

The gear page describes the trip as self-supported.  Backpack only...

Is she going to ride it with no shoes like her C2C ride? http://oak.cats.ohiou.edu/~gs114208/GDR/index_files/Page544.htm

Wow, I think she can do it, she should have started with the other riders and got herself in the record books.

I do however think she is not riding alone, maybe I am reading too much into it.  IT says WE ride with our gear all in our backpack encourages US to pack light???

whatever, I think its freaking awesome,  Although, cross country on a bunch of roads is gonna be different then cross country on a bunch of off road.

Still, no coasting on a UNI, I dont even think you can put your feet up like I do on a smooth downhill on my Fixie..

She is a BA. The front page mentions her partner Matt, and the FAQ says they will be self supported. I wish them well, that is an amazing feat.

I haven't got their SPOT info yet, but there's a good chance they'll be on TopoFusion's divide tracker once they start on July 1.

It's actually not a joke.  There are handlebars for unicycles (I have one for my 36" road/light-xc unicycle) helps take a little pressure off the boys if you know what I mean.  The handle bar I have actually has two water bottle cage attachment points though I've never tried using them.  There has been mixed success with mounting bar bags on unicycles.  The end result has been that one is better off keeping the uni as light and strong as possible and just backpack the weight, though a small tool bag under the saddle is probably not an issue.  I've also seen long distance riders duct tape a spare tube around the hub...  We can cover as much mileage as bicycles, just quite a bit slower, still it beats walking (most of the time) Smiley

These guys are killing it (and themselves, at an average speed of 36 miles per day)! Great write up on the blog:

They done did it! Wowsers. Including a 102 mile day near the end. And up to 11 concurrent saddle sores. Ouch. Great effort!
