Just make sure to take snowshoes and a chainsaw!

But, if the snow is deep enough, you may not need the chainsaw!

You could get lucky and have a very dry winter and spring, but I doubt it.

The odds are very high you'll encounter snow(most likely deep snow) in the Brianhead area alone not to mention other areas are also possible... winter also brings snow(heavy) and very strong winds and lots of trees in the area have beetle infestation which means lots of fallen trees on the route, thus the chainsaw comment Smiley

Gotcha. When is the earliest time to go out there without extra tools?

June or even July for dry trails up high would be my guess, depending on the winter we have this year.  As for chainsaws and downed trees... if it's anything like our area, it's a crapshoot that any given backcountry trail will get cleared in a given year.  You may be doing some tree-hopping regardless of what time of year you go... part of the fun, I suppose.
