Hi Guys,

I'm looking for another crazy individual (or i guess more than one individual would be ok) who is looking to ride the GDMBR in 2014.

I'm planning on riding it in late July. Banff downwards, roughly 100 miles a day would be a reasonable target.

I'd love to hear from you if you are interested, if even for some of the distance.

Thanks,

Will

A 100 miles a dayon the Great Divide?  I'm more of a road touring than a mountain biker so maybe I don't know what I'm talking about, but a 100 miles ad day seems wildly opptomistic to me.

I dig it. I was already contemplating a 2014 attempt and 100+ miles a day average is what I'm talking about. I will let you know if things solidify Will.

Well, you're a better man than me and probably a lot younger as well.   I wish you the best of luck.  That will be some hard riding.

I as well am planning on riding the entire GDMBR next summer from Banff to the US/Mexico border. Your goal of 100 mile's a day seems optimistic, but not unreasonable. I just walked the entire Appalachian Trail earlier this year in 4 months, 9 days with hardly any experience beforehand, averaging 20+ mile's per day not including our zero day's for rest & resupply... with our longest day being 49 mile's. Stay in touch & shoot me some resources for information on what kind of setup is best for riding this route.

I have all the gear necessary besides the bike, and am doing all the research i can to figure it out so i can get some mile's under my leg's before departing for the GDMBR. All i know so far is a hardtail w/ optional locking front suspension might be the best option, but am just not sure... i want to go as lightweight as possible, ultralight being the goal target weight.

I'm toying with the idea of a Tour divide ride next summer. July would be best for me as well, although it's a shame not to ride it when the actual race is happening; however, early June just doesn't work well for me. My training would be much better suited for July. I might try to push that 100 mile a day though. Middle of the pack guys push 150 mile days, which is what I would want to shoot for, but that might be way optimistic... Let's stay in touch!
