For me it is.

I rode my new bike in Crested Butte last weekend.  Slogged up to 12,200', camped, woke, rode some more, then blasted back to town.

Rode it unladen on an Ewok-approved trail the next day.  So sweet.

Brought it home and changed shoes, then headed out for some wash bashing and dry creek exploring tonight.

Currently poring over maps and thinkering up places to take this'n.  Places I'd not have thought about riding until now...

Cheers,

MC

You're carrying too much. You should really carry less!

Haha, that's an incredibly light build!

Good grief.  I do love me some Crested Butte riding time.

Thanks for the pictures.  I think I'll have to head back that way to see those trail signs again.  Maybe next weekend...

What are we talking about for rims when running the Knard's? How narrow I guess in the question. I saw a guy with a pair on the CT this past week as well and my interest in using these is now very much piqued.

This bike can fit Rabbit Holes (50mm) but I chose the 35mm Velocity Blunt's because I wanted something a little lighter, little sportier, and because the overall tire width and height changes very little between the two.  I'd not feel comfortably going much narrower, unless you're willing to run much higher than needed psi's.

Mike - did you set the Blunt's up tubeless?

I've got a Krampus (with Rabbit Holes) and am thinking of lowering that rotational mass a bit.

I do not trust any Velocity rims tubeless.

To be clear, I can get them to hold air with lots of tires.  Like static, in the shop.  But because the rim extrusion makes no allowance for holding the bead in place sans tube, I can burp them in the driveway, and can't begin to ride aggressively nor with confidence because of how often and violently they burp.

I think it's ridiculous that Velocity sells some basic tape and calls it a 'tubeless kit'.  Couldn't be further from the truth.

What frame bag is that? I see the Revelate logo, but haven't seen one like that. Is it custom? I just put down a deposit for a new frame pack with Scott at Porcelain Rocket. This may be too late for me, but I want to know anyway.

Interesting, I've got the Blunt SL's set-up tubeless with their 'kit' and stans sealant. nearly 2 years of singletrack, touring and commuting (just about to replace my second drivetrain). I've never burped them with conti race kings. Being rigid I've ran the tires silly low pressure to after a couple of longer days and having my arms/wrists be extremely tired. ~15psi.

That bag is custom from way back when Eric was still doing that.

Nice Ride, looks like fun and the genre busting bit, hehehe.
Recent build with plenty of classic style and panache for the Mrs.

I agree.  I'm on Blunt 35's (aka P-35's) and have had the bead unseat on some very mild XC trails.  I do not trust them at all for tubeless.

Although, for the front tire, I have it set up split-tube tubeless and has been holding well for over a year.  I have not been easy on it, either, and it's a rigid fork, so maybe an option for those that want to go tubeless on Velocity rims.

Wow, nice pics! I'm interested in you gear list. Looks pretty minimalistic. And what type of saddle bag are you using?

How does the dropper post (reverb?) hold up with the seat bag attached?

I just got this in the mail from Porcelain Rocket last week. Looking forward to eventually doing a bikepack on this bike, but essentially I got it to eliminate the backpack from my daily rides.
