Not a real extreme bikepacking destination, but certainly one of the more beautiful places I've ever been too.  The island has just enough ammentities to make life a tad easier, pit toilets and water.  But there isn't anywhere to buy food or access electricity so you have to rough it a little too.  It would be an ideal place to take someone for their first bikepacking adventure.  The riding isn't super technical, but there was a lot more elevation than I thought there would be.  My buddy and I were only on the island for one night, but between the two days we rode most of the trails on the island and ended with around 40 miles.  Like I said, it was by no means an extreme trip but boy did we have a great time.  $20 gets you a ride to the island and back on the ferry (which it turns out is just a pontoon boat) and covers your park and camping fee.  All the sites we saw were awesome in their own way, and they are first come first serve.  The ferry service runs from mid May to mid October.
