Hello bikepacking forum members. My name is Bob and I live South of Denver CO.
I'm a retired Aerospace Engineer and ride my mtn bikes almost daily for exercise.

During weekdays when the trails aren't crowded I really like to take my mtn bike
out for overnite campouts.

Here is a recent trip I took to a local open space area.
My ride, 04 Azonic with rear panniers.

The spot I chose to camp at. I use a hammock and tarp instead of a tent. I find it much more comfortable and you have a chair to sit in.

Some call this Country TV

My view from that hammock.

I am really looking forward to seeing other trip reports and swapping ideas on camping via mtn bike.

thanks for checking out my report.

Hi Bob, I'll say hello!  It's great your managing to get out...it's been that wet here in the UK, I haven't been out for a few months.

I saw your post when you first posted it but wondered if you'd had trouble with the attachments?  Is there supposed to be some pictures within it?  It seems that there's titles but nothing else.  I've seen your pics in your other posts though, looks good.

Oh, and what's that stuck to your shoe.  icon_biggrin

Hi! Great pics! A year ago I was camping almost a week at Buffalo Creek. You're lucky to have those views in your backyard. Keep up riding and posting.
P.S. Did you use a sleeping pad in your hammock?

Ah, it's better with a few photos.  Thanks for sharing, sort of...the pics of blue skies make me jealous.  Maybe I should stick to the UK forums?!?

Hi stumpyfsr, In the 2nd picture you see two down quilts.
The smaller one (green and black) hangs under the hammock to keep my butt warm.
This kit keeps me warm down to about 30 degrees.

Buffalo Creek is a really fun place to bikepack on singletrack.
The whole areas is worth checking out can't beat the Colorado Trail seg 1-3 and 6 for bikepacking in the piney woods.
If you're ever out this way again I am always looking for a good excuse to go bikepacking and I can provide a second vehicle.

thanks for your comments and question.

Hi D45yth, Thanks again for letting me know the picts weren't posting.
The Colorado sky is an absolute treat out here I never get tired of it.
When out bikepacking the evening sky is something I always look forward to.

Sounds like a good idea. Maybe next spring/summer we could figure out something. One member here came up with a route: Denver - Durango - Moab - Fruita - Denver. Of course, it's a wild one but D. Trump said "Think big and kick ass" Wink

Is he talk road bike trip or driving to these places and bikepacking each area? Most of my bikepacking is on dirt.
I've know most of Denver's front range singletrack trails, been riding Fruita every Spring and Moab every Fall since 2007.
Never biked Durango so I could not offer any advice on where to bikepack there.

I'm into singletrack/dirt bikepacking too. So, I'm talking about using Colorado trail from Denver to Durango. Then there's a singletrack from Durango to Moab. From Moab to Fruita ride Kokopelli. And I don't know yet about dirt route from Fruita back to Denver. But there's plenty of time to find it.
P.S. I appologize for not replying too long - havn't used computer much lately
