Left kirknewton (Scotland) yesterday at 2pm. Cycled over the pentlands to glentress. Camped out halfway round the black route. After a solid 8h sleep. Woke up had breakfast, cold beens, yum. Finished black route, did innerlethian short route. Back to the caffee at glentress. Big big breakfast. Back up to the pentlands and hhome for lunch.great 130 miles.
What I learned.
I
Get out of wet clothes fast. You cool down quick in wet clothes at -4c.
Feet dont like to get into wet cold shoes in the morning.
Cold frozen mornings are best at glentress as its quiet, well relatively.
You get some funny looks comming off the trail with a sweetroll, seat bag and minging when everyone else is mulling round their cars contemplating getting their bikes dirty or head to the cafe for coffee and scones. (Yes At glentress a few people are like this)
Looking forward to my next practice/outing!

Nice one, always good to get a bivi in, wherever it may be. I'm just along the road from you myself (Balerno) and have been up in the Pentlands a good few nights. There are some great spots up there, so I like going up for a micro adventure after dinner and returning by breakfast time.
I'm just waiting for the Pentlands to freeze over, so I can get a snowy overnight in.
