Hey i just read your post about your overnight and saw your pics, and had a question on your handlebars as I have been thinking about them and wondered how you like them. I read your other posts on your blog and wondered if you did the races you were training for. Good job on getting out there and getting back to where you want to be, its more fun on a bike than any other way.

I did do them. Finished the the julian death march and after that I did the dirty 50. The stage coach 400 I only got as far as agua cliente 112 miles due to the extreme heat wave that was going for those two day. By the time I got too Agua Cliente I was over baked and couldn't cool down so I called it. But After leaving I think could waited it out maybe and left late at night. Next year will be my year to finish that one. I like the bars it took a little for me to get the right stem. But I think I got dialed now. hope this helped. Also I have been on at least dozen overnights but there has always been at least 3 or 4 people with me. Even the stagecoach 400 there was my buddy and some other peeps.

Liked your trip report Alex. I'd also like to do that bikepack with Ken and others that is coming up but I hate riding in the heat. Living in Carlsbad has made me a lot less tolerant of the 80 plus temps.
On the Jones bars did you have to go shorter or longer to make them work?

Michael_S you should go with us just bring lots of water. It will be in the 60's when we start and won't get to the 80's around 11:00am. Were not going to be blazing up there. It will be a slow casual pace stoping taking pics and since were starting early will be beating most of the heat and were staying at a actual campground the first night. The second day were planning to hit the new water park before we ride up to the second camp area. It will be a fun time. Mike and I know the area really good. Its going to be some fun riding. It not really technical riding either getting there.
