Hi,
I wanted to learn from your experience if you've taken a bear bag (ursack) on the CT while bikepacking?
In CA a bear canister is required....
Thanks!

Couldn't hurt, ursacks don't take up a lot of space.  Although it might change how you pack.

I saw one bear on the CT near Kenosha Pass.   Also saw lots of thru hikers the first few days with bear cans.  After that I don't recall seeing bear cans, so I assumed they got mailed home.

Personally I've never been too concerned with black bears unless I'm in areas with known problem bears like Yosemite.  While the CT has bears I don't think there are many places where bears are habituated to humans.  I'd be more concerned with rodents and marmots going after food.  A marmot stole one of my socks left out to dry my final night on trail.
