Couldn't hurt, ursacks don't take up a lot of space. Although it might change how you pack.
I saw one bear on the CT near Kenosha Pass. Also saw lots of thru hikers the first few days with bear cans. After that I don't recall seeing bear cans, so I assumed they got mailed home.
Personally I've never been too concerned with black bears unless I'm in areas with known problem bears like Yosemite. While the CT has bears I don't think there are many places where bears are habituated to humans. I'd be more concerned with rodents and marmots going after food. A marmot stole one of my socks left out to dry my final night on trail.
