My friend and I both had Rohloff hubs set up on our bikes. One bike's granny gear or easiest gear is #1 one bike's granny gear is 14. Which bike is set up correctly? Does it matter? Thanks!

Hi,
which kind off shifting box is on these bikes? do they have an internal routed gearshifting box or the bolt-on? also, the cables in the shifter can be run different.
If the shifting works fine there is no problem, with the cables crossed wrong in the shifter it will stall and not shifting ok.

Officially #1 should be the granny. I have ran both configurations and prefer the official setup, for me it feels easier to downshift by turning the grip towards me on steep inclines. That's about it, both setups work just fine

I had mine set with 1 as the hardest and 14 as the granny. My mechanic asked me which way I wanted it set up.. I requested that way. Worked great, as Rohloffs do.

Thanks everyone for the input! I'm glad to know that it doesn't matter how you set up the hub. To answer B@se We're both running a the same twist shifter on both bike.
