Hi guys and gals,

I just completed the Trans Wisconsin, an approximately 600-mile bikepacking route that goes south to north through the entire state of Wisconsin.  Joe Meiser made this route in 2008, I believe.  (I got the cue sheets and maps from another fellow on this forum.)  For some reason not much has happened with this route, but it's a FABULOUS route, with a nice mixture of pavement, gravel roads, single track (almost 40 miles), grassy two-track, sandy ATV trails (very hard!), and logging roads.  Joe did an awesome job on the cue sheets and gpx files.  If you're out there, Joe, thank you so much.

Here is the report: www.paytonmacdonald.wordpress.com

I'm really hoping to do this next year, but I'd like to see if we can get a whole bunch of us out there.  This is a great route if you want a TD experience, but like me can't afford the month off from work/family.  It's also a bit easier on the knees with only about 25K of climbing . . .

Email me if you're interested in doing this next year with me: payton.macdonald@gmail.com.

Enjoy the photos!

And here's a little home-made video I made of the trip.  It's got some riding shots, some philosophy, nutrition info, and some humor.  There's a section at the end where I break down my bike setup for you bikepackers.

Enjoy.

Cool post. Looks like a good ride and tough conditions.

I think somebody should do an east-west route across the northern part of the state.

Payton,

Glad to see you got this done, and good to know that the route is still there and rideable. I'm also happy that all of the stuff that I ketp was worth saving.  Put me down as interested in this for next year. Cheesy

Looks like a great trip. Thanks for sharing that. Good write up as well.  I hope every state comes up with their own Trans-State route.
