Specialized bikepacking bags

I am not affiliated to Specialized in anyway, but I must admit I am quite impressed, on paper anyway, with what looks like some well thought out designs.  The seatpack with integrated stability mount and the front harness which clamps to the bars.  From a weight perspective I suspect the weight conscious will run for the hills, but for those of us after gear that stays put and does not move around could be worth a look.

I had looked at the handlebar harness to help solve the drop bar cable crushing problems, but at 0.7lbs, like you said, that has me running for the hills. That is almost half the weight of the sleeping bag I'm trying to put up there. For that weight I'll just put the aero bars on and strap my bags to them.

To be fair, the Salsa Anything Cradle comes in at 0.9lbs, despite its svelter appearance. Too bad, because I really do like the looks of it.

Most of it looks quite comparable to Blackburn's Outpost series, which I run a lot of on my stuff.

I'll stick to Blackburn, given the choice

Specialized lost me as a client years ago when they went after Eric at Revelate Designs(formerly Epic Designs). Apparently Specialized "owns" the word Epic. Same way they own "Roubaix", a town in France, and went after a Canadian bike shop named after that town.  Fast forward....Specialized now recognizes backpacking,launches a bike and copies his bag system. No bueno. There are a bunch of small but extremely high quality innovators out there producing AMAZING bags. Support them first I say.

I share his pain.  I started a windsurfing clothing company called "Force 9" I then had to roll over to Nike as they had trademarked the word "Force"!  B!stards
