Garmin must be trying to clear out the remaining stock of the now defunct 800 model...  It's a perfect bikepacking GPS system!  I'm honestly contemplating buying a "backup"...
$310 plus a $100 mail in rebate...

What do you do when the internal battery runs out and you've got a couple more days to ride?

I like being able to use rechargeable AA's in a GPS.

I get about 14-16 hours of use out of a charge, and then I've had great luck with this unit...  You get more than a full charge out of 4AA batteries.

2-3 days on 2 AA Lithium batteries for a Garmin eTrex vs. 14-15 hours with an 800. I'm not sure that the 800 is the best for bikepacking. I do have one on my road bike though, and it's great. But I keep the eTrex on my bikepacking bike. If I had to choose only one, I'd go with an eTrex.
