I climbed Coffee Pot Road into the Flat Tops for an overnighter on Saturday. Most of the road is easy gravel that a passenger car can navigate, but it travels into a beautiful land of lakes, wildlife, and rolling hills.

I feel reasonably certain that my body is sound enough to humbly set off on the greatest adventure of my life in Durango with the rest of you madmen on 7/21. Hopefully I'll be successful and I just wanted to be able to look back at my thoughts and mindset as I prepared.
Success for me is finishing the race. If it takes me 8 or 9 or 10 days then so be it. I just look forward to having a great adventure on the trail and getting to share the experience with like-minded people, to whatever extent that entails.
