Trip Report - Crossing the Alps on extreme routes

Hey fellow bikepackers,

in July I crossed the Alps (again) with my full suspension bike and ultralight bikepacking gear. The route was quite extreme in some parts, the bike sometimes had to be carried. Reducing weight of my backpack was quite a challenge. Have fun reading!

Great write up!  Liking your website too, you've obviously put a lot of time and effort into it.
I was wondering if you've ever considered a handlebar bag?  I manage to get my tent, sleeping bag and air mat in mine.

I did consider a handlebar bag. However, since I am riding very technical and steep trails I wouldn't want to influence the balance of the bike too much, and I want to avoid constraining its mobility.

Nice report

Interesting to read about how much hike a bike you had to do. I just spent 2 days doing the 1st section of the Joe Route http://en.wikiloc.com/wikiloc/view.do?id=2814918  (up to Ishgil) and was dismayed by the extent of pushing and carrying my bike I had to do.
I guess it goes with the terrain.

I can understand why you might carry a back pack rather than a frame bag its hard to carry a bike with a frame bag
