What's everyone using for lights?

Should Read Rubber bands or Hair ties,   I've never tried using hair, Might work but it would be really hard to take off the helmet  ; -)

I'm a fan of the Nitecore MH10.  Use them on my bars and helmet and have had zero issues.  Guess I should add that I run the exposure revo on my bars when using my dynamo.

In response to a fella earlier that was using his iphone as his gps...  I gave that a whirl on last years Dixie 200 and within 15 minutes from the start I started getting the "this cable is not supported" message so I couldn't charge my phone with my dynamo or cache battery.  Within about 5 hours my iphone was close to dead so I switched back to my trusty garmin I had brought just in case.  It's also a pain to read the screen in the sun without cranking up the backlight.

HC50 Velcro strapped to my commuter helmet. To change the beam angle it's easy to just reach up and rotate the light in the rubber holder.

Armytek Vikings attachet to my helmet for an instant nightride. on 400 lmns it gives a lot of light at a long batttery life, at 1000lmns you see very much in the woods.

Does anyone still use lights with separate battery packs anymore; for example, Dinotte or Lupine?

Those lights have great output at the expense of being tethered to a battery. My Dinotte batteries are reaching the end of their life and wonder if it's time to move to something self contained but wonder if light output is truly comparable from  a unit as small as an Exposure for example.

I do still use a different setup with two xeccon s14 units when doing a longer nightride. One on the helmet and on on the handlebar. Personally I would take a lightning kit with a seperate battery pack over a flashlight.

The new Fenix lights look awesome, Lupine is great and pricy...

I've only had one headlamp that attached to my helmet, and it came with a little custom clip; I think most of them do?

I just wanted to let anyone else with an old NiteRider Trail Rat 2.0 light know that Batteryspace.com made a custom replacement battery for me for $35 configured and wrapped to fit in the original battery container (part number CU-J1219, product ID 10232). You will need to handle wiring it to the existing cable (the cable polarity is described on the back of the original charger if needed), but compared to getting those friggin' secure hex bits out, that's the easy part. The best part (other than breathing new life into these things instead of tossing them - they're quite bright) is that you can also get a smart charger for these cells, so the battery charges faster, and you don't have to estimate charge times on the fly. In addition, since I was cutting the cable from scratch, I was able to make the cable the perfect length for putting the battery in my preferred nook in the bike frame (the stock cable was too short for this).

If you want spares, I still have my trail rat 2.0 and rapid charger around.  I can charge it up and make sure it still works.  Pretty sure I've got several extra bulbs lying around too

I'm about to embark on my first tour where I'll ride at night. I'm kind of curious as to what you guys think of my setup. My Iphone is my navigational tool so I'll be carrying a Goal Zero power bank to recharge it. I have a Nightrider Lumina 750 that can be recharged via usb like my Goal Zero bank but I'm unsure as to how much juice it will take to recharge it. Remember, i'll need to recharge my phone for navigation. Because of this, I plan on using the Lumina as a secondary light. My primary light is a 200 lumen (max setting) headlamp that I electric taped to my helmet (sounds ghetto but I pulled off the band and it actually looks pretty good. Kind of like a small gopro). Will 200 lumens be sufficient for gravel grinding and country road rolling through the night? What about an even lower setting? I plan on carrying spare batteries and obviously I can pick up more if needed. What do you guys think?

I'm curious as to which Goal Zero product you are using and how does it perform?

Black Diamond just came out with a new Storm, 250 lumen at 3.9 oz including battery weight (uses 4 triple AAA batteries).  Anyone try this out?

In the past, I have used either two (older model) Storms (helmet and handlebars) or one Storm plus a Fenix pd35 where more light was needed.  This is for slower night travel, with a lighter weight - not bombing where you would need a much higher powered light.

I just got my Busch & Mueller 80lux light mounted for use with my dynamo front hub. I was really surprised by how bright it is even at low speeds. It comes on at around 5mph but by 7 mph+ it is solid and illuminates the road very well.
