15% of electronics, including Garmin at Nashbar.  I had been shopping for a Edge 200 and there's not many deals to be found.  For example, REI 20% off excludes GPS units.  Enjoy!

Actually Garmin products are NOT on sale at Nashbar. Garmin patrols their pricing very carefully, and prices advertised are the pricing allowed for everyone whether online or in your LBS.

What many online companies do is bump up the suggested retail price to make it look as though they are on sale, but in actuality it's the price mandated by Garmin. nono

Sorry...the Edge 200 MSRP is $149.99 and I definitely got 15% off that.  I can show you my receipt ;-)

You are right that Garmin controls pricing well, but this was a nice & rare deal.  It's a moot point anyway since the sale has been over for a long time.

Perhaps it was an 2011 model, as that price would be protected by Garmin. I would highly doubt that Nashbar(or anyone online for that matter) would stray from prices that are required by Garmin... they wouldn't want to lose their "dealer" status.

Glad you got a good deal though...

Universal Cycles offers 15% on purchases over $300, Garmin included.  I just bought an Edge 500, but went through REI for their awesome support and return policy.  I could have saved about $95 with tax and that 15% off, but decided the piece of mind was worth something.  So to those who say that Garmin wont allow discounts, this is very much false...

I don't doubt that both of you received a deal on your GPS units. My point to all of this is that GARMIN requires all dealers to sign an agreement where pricing/sale prices are concerned. This basically gives everyone a level playing field, and doesn't allow people to put less value on GARMIN product. Although the other side of this story is that if they don't "police" this sort of thing, then the agreement is worthless.... and dealers that do maintain their agreements are not competitive.

Do I disagree that this happens? NO, but I am disapoointed that companies such as Garmin don't hold up to their end of the agreement.

Garmin has a $30 rebate on the Edge200 right now. I stumbled on it after purchasing one from REI (they neglected to tell me about it.) You have to get it by 8/31.
