ISO frame and seat post bags

I am new to ultra racing/bike packing and I figured the best start would be the TABR. I am a teacher and a single parent, what that means is my budget is tight. Gently used and reasonably priced or whatever. I may be putting the cart before the horse as the saying goes because I haven't committed to purchasing a bike yet. Which is another area that is overwhelming for a rookie.

What bike? Everything is very fit specific. I have a heavily used, frame bag for a 54cm cross bike that I'd give up for a couple bucks more than shipping, but I have no clue what size you'd need.
