This beauty was made in 1993 by Gary Helfrich after he moved on from Merlin - so there's no decals but the design is spot on perfect.
64 cm frame fits a very tall person!

Frame is a cross between road and mountain - these days we'd call it a monster cross bike. Great for road, dirt roads, touring, and everything in between.
Works well with flats or drop bars, and has mounts for racks and fenders and the like.
Tires in the picture are 35 mm and have TONS of clearance still - 45s or bigger would probably fit.
While the bike is over two decades old it is very well maintained and ready for many more miles.
Only on Bikepacking.net I'll include a free Cleaveland Mountaineering custom frame bag with the sale as well.
The component selection is nice high end stuff from 1993 - WTB Grease Guard hubs on Mavic rims, steel Chris King headset (no logo on the cups), Shimano XT 8 speed drivetrain (with a hard to find high end 8 speed cassette), gripshift, Easton carbon riser bars, a custom stem, Shimano cranks with road touring gear ratios, toe clips, Avid V brakes, and a frame pump. Rides really nice.
The wishbone seat stays are labeled "Groo" as that is the last name of the original buyer.
Tires are in need of replacement but I'll leave tire choice up to the buyer.
Asking $1000 (price reduced!) with free shipping anywhere in the 48 states (willing to ship international also) and comes with a free custom frame bag made by me!
I can measure frame geometry upon request.
