Hello D.I.Yr's

I would like to work out and make a Down tube bag of some sort and need some inspiration.
Anyone successfully accomplish this task?

Any and all pictures or comments welcome.
Thanks.

Something like this would be perfect.

Do you mean a bag that hangs under the down tube or under the top tube?

It's either a top tube bag or frame bag, partial or uge.

I make all of my own frame bags. I use a vinyl strip along the bottom to hold it to the water bottle bosses. the velcro on the ends and the top rally hold it in place.

The same technique can be used. Attaching it to the down tube using the water bottle bosses would give it a lot more stability. Perhaps I'll throw something together and see how it rides. Not sure what I'd put in it though. That's an area that gets exposed to a lot of water and mud. Tent poles perhaps.

What are you hoping to put in it?  It seems to be a pretty basic tube with a zipper and velcro attachments.  If you really want it to stick go with three pieces of velcro.  The middle one gets sandwiched between the outer two.

Jefe's CTR set up from a couple years ago used one of his own homemade bags down there... skip to 12:45 if you don't want to watch the whole thing.

This should do.  http://www.farawayvisions.com/diy-dry-bag/

I just have to stitch down tube straps across it. maybe an old piece of inner tube where the down tube touches the bag.  if I can sew through it:)
