Hi all, I don't know is it proper forum place to post my DIY projects. well it started from passion to bike touring and bikes and TIG courses. so i started to make racks at first, but dreaming about framebuilding
If its okay i will post racks I am making and would be crazy happy to receive some ideas how to improve them and adopt to bikepacking idea - light touring. Perhaps that how its possible to make great results.
All my racks are Tig welded using steel 10x0.8mm

made one rack for a guy with On-one +Surly mix bike. mainly for weight on platform, but possible to put small panniers and thats best you can still use bottle cages on fork legs

and for weight I was very happy abpout this result 419 grams  (plus paint)  but overall really stiff one

Nice work. In the rush to soft-sided bags, well-built racks were left in the dust for a while. They seem to be making a resurgence as their utility for certain situations (personally, cold-weather riding) is recognized.

Those are both awesome, well done. I especially love the front rack on the On-One. I can picture that bike geared down and loaded for a long haul trip. Keep posting you work! the myog family is definitely not limited to cut and sew!
Super inspiring.

Nice racks indeed! As for pictures, try resizing them to around 1000x750 or so and then posting.

And yes, you are posting in the right forum. Have you tried making a rack with stainless steel? I realize it's not quiet as strong, but it eliminates the paint and the subsequent chipped and scratched paint!

I am a fan of steel racks for sure over aluminum, but unfortunately most of the mainstream racks are all aluminum these days...

How do you keep the bolts from shearing off?  This was the main problem for me in the 70's, 80'so and 90's.  After going to frame bags the problem disapeared.  Great looking racks btw....
