Hi,
I'm off to ride the South Downs Way in the south of England next week so I'm gonna make a dry bag harness for my handlebars this weekend. I've got the strap arrangement sorted (hopefully anyway, it's a bit like wildcatgear.co.uk's set up in that I'll use the fork crown) but I'm in two minds as to whether using fabric on the harness will have any benefits. All the commercial versions have fabric but I can't see it having any benefits except keeping the straps together (off the bike) and properly spaced (on the bike). Maybe it'll reduce pressure points on the dry bag slightly and reduce leaking but I'm not particularly convinced of that either.
Any ideas, opinions or comments would be great.

keeps the levers from rubbing holes in your dry bag and keeps the cluster down

You're quite the MYOGer Jeremy, have you made a bar bag yet? I've tried searching the site but can't see that anyone's posted info on them.

Just posted a pretty lame explanation of how I made my bar bag

There's more info at the Picassa link in the topic.
 Any questions just ask.

Very tidy job, much better than my hatchet job. How stable is it when mounted? I'm wondering if I've gone overboard on the mounting system.
