-i am wandering what type of zipper i should use. not in term of size, even though i am still deciding between #3 and #5. i wander if uretek coated water repellent zippers are what is normally used or just standard zippers. i searched backpacking light, some people dont recommend uretek zippers. any advice?
-also not sure weather or not catenary curves are needed for perimeter edges. i know i need them for ridges. this is going to be pyramid type shelter.

Unless there is a reason that you can't run a flap over the exterior of the zipper, I would stick with a standard zipper. If for no other reason, it will run smoother in the middle of the night when you really need to get out to pee!

As for the cat curve, I have a pyramid where I did a 3" cut on the ridge and a 4" cut on the outside. It was a 9x9' pyramid. If I did it again I'd cut it half as much, that was excessive I think. But on the other hand it pitches nicely very consistently.
I haven't tried doing one without cat curves on the outside edges. I'd say that for a 9x9 I'd do at least an inch of cut.
I used a #5 uncoated zipper and it's been fine, but I've never had to ride out a really intense rain in the tent. One thing I recommend is a "zipper saver" buckle at the bottom of the door, to clip the two pieces together so you can zip them without as much tension.
I recently put LineLoc3 buckles on the corner tie outs of my tent and I love them. It's sooo easy and fast to pitch now. I got mine from ZPacks but there are a few places that sell them.

So is there any recommended amount for linear foot? I have cat curve calculator but not sure what to input for max sag, thanks for other recommendations

All the silnylon I've seen has been the same on both sides, so it shouldn't matter which side is out.

have not tested it yet other than pitching it couple of time in my back yard. i have had bike injury and my hand has been in sling for couple of weeks. it will fit 2 people. i bought carbon pole from quest that i am planing to use, its quite skinny so will see how it goes. i do not have weight, will get it after its complete, there are still some details missing. the cost was not too bad ~$75
