The reviews online for tool kegs are not great. So I am going DIY. No issues so far. Small 16 Oz. Jif Peanut Butter jar, wrapped with Gorilla tape (waterproofed), add stickers.

I find the down tube mounted objects get beat to crap by rocks kicked up be the front wheel, and when you ride singletrack with actual obstacles that might reduce ground clearance

Agreed. I typically don't like this spot. I decided to switch to a tool keg to get this stuff out of my jerrycan. This is more for keeping weight low and leaving room for gear and food in the jarrycan rather than filling them with the bikepacking repair tool kit that I rarely (thankfully) use. I like this design over buying something that may fail, as PB jars are plentiful in my house and I think the Gorilla tape will keep the jar sealed and contents dry. When and if the jar or lids cracks the tape will keep it together. Then I will make a new one. So far so good. Time will tell.
