I drew up some plans a year or something ago to make a roll top frame bag. In the spirit of long-lasting gear, I wanted to use metal hook/cinch hardware like I have on my one day pack. Since then, I have noticed that rouge Panda use that style of bucks on their roll-tops, so I can't be totally crazy. Does anyone know where I can purchase those buckles, or at least what they are called, so that I can search for them? They are front and center in the picture on http://www.roguepanda.com/shop/rolltop-framebag/

I would just email RP and ask him where he gets his, if you ask nice he may even consider selling you a handful. Short of some google searching perhaps military surplus stores?

Good idea on just asking Nick (?) At rogue Panda. I tried the Google thing, and without knowing what they are called, I didn't get very far. The closest I came is that metolius sold a similar buckle.

Here is another source:

If you google Metolius Crash Buckle, it has some other hits in the US too.

Search for G-hook buckles.

They are a bit hard to source in small quantities unless you find them as spares for other manufacturer's equipment.

And now that I know what they are called, they are pretty easy to find. Thanks again! Now I just need to carve out some time to work on some projects.

If you find a good source for ones that use 3/4" webbing, post up!

Will do. I'm mainly looking for 1" since that is what I generally use for frame bags, but I will be on the watch for 3/4" since I will be sewing up a new seat bag if I get a dropper post.

Seek Outside sells them in 3/4":

https://seekoutside.com/bachelor-buckles-set-of-4/

Aluminum G-hooks are a fairly new thing and so far I haven't seen any of the major buckle manufacturers take them on as a standard product. I wouldn't be surprised if it happens soon given their popularity though. We had to go searching and ended up going direct to a factory in China. Large minimum order but a good product.

Oh, and don't get the ITW G-Hook. ITW normally makes great stuff but their G-hook is pretty terrible. Slips very easily, not secure at all.

Thanks for weighing in, Nick, especially on the ITW hooks since those seem to be the easiest to source. I think those 3/4 inch hooks are going to end up on my next seat bag.
