Check out http://www.rockywoods.com/

I use these guys now because they are fast and don't charge a handling fee like seattle fabrics. I made a quick video on making your own frame bags that covers some of the supplies if you are interested.

I've ordered from Quest, Rockywoods, and Outdoor Wilderness Fabrics (owf.inc) All three are good, OWF a bit more difficult to order from. I've not called Rockywoods or OWF, but the people at Quest Outfitters are really great to talk to.

Also check out the Rainshed http://therainshed.com/
I've not ordered from them but they seem to have a pretty extensive list of materials.

For DIY you can't beat OWF's prices. Seattle fabric's prices are borderline extortion.

DIY Gear Supply is an excellent source especially for anyone interested in making a tarp, tent, hammock, or sleeping bag/quilt.

Thanks for the resources. Several great alternatives to Seattle Fabrics.

Does anyone have any suggestions for where to find those bar block spacers that Revelate uses on the handlebar harness? Or something similar?

We make them in house, but you could try using cut chunks of rubber hose.

McMaster Carr has a good selection of various closed cell foam materials in all sorts of thicknesses. I'm guessing Eric does some form of die cutting for those things but for at home use, a fresh x-acto and some patience will get the job done cleanly.

Don't forget www.thru-hiker.com for DIY kits - apparel, insulated apparel, sleeping quilts, etc.  the patterns and directions are worth it for clothing.

Thru Hiker stuff is great. Still got some downproof nylon  from them I've been meaning do something with.

Btw, Jeremy, the used seatbag you sold me earlier this summer has been great. Hoping to make my own soon.

Another vote for Thru-hiker.com. I've built three of the vest kits from AYCE. I've got a jacket kit that I need to build too. Too many projects!

Does anyone have a source for 3 layer eVENT like Integral Designs uses in their bivys? I know eVENT doesn't sell material to the individual consumer. Does anyone know what the non commercial name for the material is? Thanks!

Addy, I don't know if he sells fabric bits but you might consider contacting Ron at Mountain Laurel Designs as he sources eVent by the roll and may consider selling a quantity to you.  http://mountainlaureldesigns.com

I was having some issues with my machine and consulted a good friend of mine who gave me some great links.

Needle and thread info...

Great info especially if you plan to build tactical/camo stuff.  I think I'm going to make all my bags in some sort of kick ass looking desert camo....

Rockywoods usually has the best selection of camo fabric suitable for bags and packs.

It's supposed to be impossible to buy eVent by the yard, I've got some in the past but it was 2 layer and very heavy. I've seen some WPB fabric on the Extremtextil website which I have the impression they're hinting is eVent but I could be wrong, the exchange rate and shipping costs to the US would probably rule them out though
