Whale tales. Guerrero Negro is a good place to go whale watching. Bahia De Los Angles. Whales like to have a good look around. Only Gray whales stick their heads up to have a look around. Ever touched an 80 foot whale? Are there more Osprey than people in Baja California Sur? 36516

Cedar Creek beach. It takes a lot of effort to walk there. From my tent I watched eagles play on the beach early in the morning.

evdog, I curious if you need a bear can or a rope to hang your food up there? Surely you had some bear spray? I'm headed for for Glacier NP soon. I might find myself those trails for a week or so next month. If you know something about grizzlies in the area or regulations for bear cans and bear spry could you post it up?

Last year in Yellowstone: The rangers bent the road closures for me, a solo cyclist, a couple of times. Friday evening the forecast was for a low of 32 on Sunday night, Saturday morning the forecast was for 24* Fahrenheit Sunday night. I wanted to get to a lower elevation. It got down to 14. Thanks rangers. I enjoyed having the road all to myself. Weathers not a joke in Yellowstone.

Forums / Question and Answer / Universal bike parts

Universal parts might keep us going. A few months back I met a guy in Catavina Baja. The guy was on a nice + bike with top end parts. When I saw him again in Guerrero Negro His left crank arm was busted off his bike. Most everybody wanted to help him. Just one problem He had an Isis bottom bracket. He had to go back to San Diego to buy a tool to get the Isis bb off. 12 hours and 12 hours back on a buss, 1,200 pesos each way. He had an expensive German bracket rated for 100,000 kilometres. I guess he rode that far before it broke. Most every bike shack from north to south has a Shimano bb tool. Seems that oh so few bike shops have a Isis tool.
The point is, even the best parts can fail in time. Should we set our selves up with universal parts that use a common tool? Phil Wood Stainless external 68/73mm BB, uses a common tool that most bike shacks have. I saw a frame that checked all the boxes I was looking for. Except. It had a press fit bb. so I did not buy it. hmm

Oldest rider = 70. Think he said his name was Lee, from White Horse, Yukon. 6/10 ride a Surly on the Baja DIvide. 7/10 ride on 29+ 3.0 tires. My 29 x 2.6 seem to be the thinnest out there. 8/10 have a Brooks saddle. I don?t know why. 1/10 have drop bars. I did not like them, until I rode a few hundred miles north and into the wind on Mex 1. In the old days I would never see another rider on the back roads. But would see groups riding down Mex 1 every day or two. This year I saw 1 rider with panniers on Mex 1 and 10 or more riding the gravel roads.

New decade means new ideas? About water?
I have not yet found the one and only way to make my water safe to drink. If there is a way to do so. Most of the time I find something wrong with my new filter or gadget-
I might start just boiling water.
