I Ride when I can, ususally at least twice a week 2+ hrs singletrack and dirt road, Crosstrain with p90x.  I especially like the plyometric workout.  If your knees can take some impact, the plyo routine is awesome.  The core workout from the same program is a good all around routine.  Add some time on the trainer and i can keep pretty good fitness year round.  I do miss 6+ hr days though, they are a little harder to come by with short, cold, wet days.  Living in the Pacific NW it is not the cold but the wet.  I can do dry/frozen 10-30 deg days fine, but the wet days right close to freezing can be lousy and uncomfortable.  But like Fred said, "That which doesn't kill me, makes me stronger".  Or something to that effect.

Cheers!

I did a little exploring when driving out of Moab about a year ago, and I believe I was on Dubinky Well rd., Dumas Pt. rd, Blue Hills and some others in that area. What I was on was pretty sandy in several areas.  It would be a real grunt to ride (if even possible).  But if you don't mind a walk on the 'beach' with your bike it will get you to 313.

Not too worried with the snow just wondering wether or not to take my neoprene socks. I have done several snow HAB's in the past few months and feel good about it as long as it is not too deep or too long (more than a few miles).

Hi gang,

I am rolling out tomorrow morning for my ITT.  I am attemtpting the 300. Thought I might ask for a little mojo from you all, I think I will need it.  Does anyone know what snow is like on the backside of Lemmon?

Tim,
Thanks for the info.  I don't have intentions of accepting anything from them other than their encouragement.  I don't anticipate seeing them at more than one or two places (photo ops for my back in the day ramblings when I am old and decrepit), dropoff and pickup.

When it comes to rules, sometimes silly just makes it different and challenging. I can deal.  I care only because it helps define the challenge, but I am really out there to ride(ok, suffer), see and experience places in a way the very few and fortuante do.

BTW the only records i'll be breaking are my own. Be well.

Scott

Greetings all,

Another Scott here.  I am planning to ride the 300 in two weeks and have some family members that would like to support (mentally), in thier view, my insanity.  It seems to me the best places for them to see me would be, Start, Patagonia, Sonoita, possibly underpass of I-10, East Tuscon, along the road to Summerhaven and Summerhaven, Oracle, and Finish.  Does that sound about right?  Do any of you previous racers/riders have suggestions or easy landmarks we could use as meeting points?  In the same vein, are these also the same places I will be able to refuel (food), or am I missing some locations.  Thanks to any and all.

Cheers!

Greetings all!  As much as I would like to meet many (all) of you for the 'official' race, my schedule dictates something different.  I plan on celebrating my birthday by riding the AZT 300 route on and around March 26-29th.  This will be a challenge for me but I believe I can complete barring catastrophic mechanical failure. Even if that should occur what is the downside?  I guess I am putting this out there in case anyone else may be considering the route around this time.  If my plans come to fruition, I will try and provide as much beta about trail conditions as I can.  Scott, thank you for taking time with me while you were manning the booth at 24 hrs ITOP.  Your suggestions for riding the Oracle to Superstition segment inspired me to attempt the whole (300mile) enchilada. If anyone is interested in that window of riding I have excellent support for pickups and drop offs if interested.  Cheers to you all!
