Perfect application for a load of cookie dough?

Great post.  Google makes Stony Pass look sooooo easy.

I like my Ibex stuff.  Don't know much about it, got it on an extreme going-out-of-business sale here a while back in Fort Collins, but I do like it.

I bit well-familiarized with them Wink

Justin, you're a stud.  It's still amazes me what you did.  Effing radical.

I'm super jealous, Adam.  Sounds like a fantastic trip.  We need pictures, buddy.  I haven't lived vicariously through somebody else for a couple weeks now.  Wink

For me, in Colorado especially, to love bikepacking is to hike-a-bike.

This is why I bikepack... keeps the riff-raff out, so to speak.

This did not come overnight, and I can't wait to HAB on the CT again.  Sick, I know.  Wink

I have an eTrex 20 and really like it.  Try using a touch screen with dirty gloves - maybe they've come a long way since back when I tried using one, but it wasn't my cup of tea.  I really didn't need anything fancy, and the mindless purple line is easy to follow on the eTrex series.  I'm sure the rest are great, too.

Lezyne for me.  I've got one like Addy posted above, as well as the high volume Micro Floor Drive.  The Micro Floor Drive is bigger, but still comes with the ability to mount between a bottle cage and the bike, like the Alloy Drive.  Both are going on a couple years old, and both still work well enogh for what they are - small pumps.  Just be careful how you're sitting on/near the trail if you get a flat - with the whole wheel in my lap, and my back to any on-comers, it looks like I could be doing something else, if you catch my drift.  Don't want to go startling anybody out there.  Wink

Good luck.

I'm with ya, Rick!  Slow times on the bikerpacker forums everywhere... I might have to start trolling to see if I can conjure up some bickering.   Wink

Thank God I live in Colorado, where the weather was awesome (again) for riding today... at least in Fort Collins.  Freaking perfect.

Yeah, good thread, even though I feel like this subject's been beaten to death already.  As for what I use, I tried converting to flats, but for some reason, I can't get my feet(mostly my toes) to stop going numb.  I tried adjusting the seat back and forth, and up and down.  Different stems.  About 5 different pairs of shoes.  No dice.  I don't know why it is, but it is.  Maybe it's the pedals - I use an older set of Holzfellers.  My go-to setup is XT SPD's and Giro Privateers.  Just wore out my Sidi Dominators(not good hike-a-bike shoes).  My favorites were Lakes, but they don't make the model I liked anymore, so hopefully the Giro's work out.  I've already got about 6 miles of HAB in them, and they feel great - time'll tell.

Bouldernick, he mentions he's still using Black Ops Nylo Pro pedals.

ProBars.  Yecccchhh.  I'm with you on that one.  Justin's Nut Butter - yes, please.  (Kinda sounds weird.)  Only other thing I really don't like is dehydrated eggs.

Your trip looked truly epic.  I'm looking forward to more pictures and write-up!

Get into it. Everyone starts the same, with figuring out their machines and sewing stuff sacks. From there sky's the limit. And you'll be super stoked and satisfied when you go on rides with your own bags. It's fulfilling.

I would totally get into it if I knew Scott's bags were ever going to fail... but, there's no sign of that anytime soon.  I know Scott, too (through the telephone only, and some vicarious situations where I was living through him in his big Austrailian trip), and he is a great, genuine guy.  Because of his great-guy-full-ness, I'm completely cool giving him my money for his outstanding craftmanship.  Who knows - maybe someday we'll see your stuff up there for sale with his, eh?

At this point, I'm just trying to get a handle on threading the sewing machine I've got.  When my grandmother died, I picked up her Singer 337 (I think) and have been tinkering here and there.  This one time, I actually hemmed the cuffs back together on a long-sleeved shirt I've got.  Talk about fulfilling!  I was stoked.  My wife just laughed.  But, my mother and mother-in-law were both super proud.  Thanks for the encouragement!

What's next in Addy's book of making stuff?

Anybody know what's up with Chris Hall?  Looks like his SPOT hasn't updated in couple days and still shows him near Michael Bowen on the Tarryall detour.

Addy - you gots skillz man.  I always admire your work.  I'm still diggin' my Porcelain Rocket bags, and your stuff looks on par with Scotty's.  Keep up the good work.  What size would you say the seat pack is?  I use Scott's Booster Rocket for comparison - same?  Smaller?

What kind of thread and needle are you using for the cuben stitching?  Just standard stuff?  I might start dabbling in the craftsman process... just curious.  It's always nice to learn from the journeyman threadsters.

Thanks,
Steve

I'm concerned about Barry - looks like he's enjoying some cold ones and pizza at Eddyline in BV!  Maybe I'm more jealous than concerned...  Yeah, pretty sure that's it.  Go Barry!

Sorry to hear you're out Chris, Bart, and Walkurtalk (sorry, don't know you by handle ?). I'd hoped that crash was just a flesh wound, Bart! Heal quick!

Pretty sure Walkurtalk is Jill H.  Bummer - a lot of us were pulling for her, and all the other badasses that had to bail.

Nice job guys!

Definitely.  I carry the REI towels when I camp.  Holds a good amount of whatever it sucks up, and seems to dry out pretty quick for me here in CO.  I'd recommend 'em.
