There are some that are truly racing but will partner for mutual benefit. These seem to form and re form.
There are some who have partnered ahead or shortly into the event. Someone who they are comfortable pacing with. The latter ones may break up if someone has bike or injury issues. These seem the most common, not sure if any survived to the end.
Anyway, pictures up dated, 3 more to come by.

Time to go to bed, Kevin, Will and Reinhold have been fed, beered and washing in the machine. Reinhold turned down a Paulaner despite being from only 10 miles from the brewery and went for a Steamworks Steamengine Lager, actually 2.
And they are happy with a 7.00 Breakfast. Result!

3 for Breakfast, and it looks like there is another chain around Kremmling that will be here tonight.
Looks like Simon Mark and Greg went right on 285 instead of left and then realised their mistake.
So add a couple of miles to their total.

I brought both my Bikes to Colorado as hand luggage. I had a soft sided bag, no problems, my Mountain Bike has also been to Sri Lanka, France and Ireland. Ditto.
To keep below the weight limit I stripped the heavy items on nonchalantly threw the carry on bag they were in over my shoulder. Must have weighed 40lbs.
SWMBO has a solid case, but then a much smaller bike.

Just posted some photos of Jackie, she was here yesterday afternoon, we thought she would get past Hartsel and a good way to Salida, which she did, now in Poncha.
Jon was confident he could catch up after his earlier disasters.

A cluster (if they're geared) A sprocket (if they're SS) A chain (either)
I think we have a winner. The next chain coming my way is lead by David Horton with the rest around Kremling. I have found my Camera, locked and loaded, so I am going to guess tomorrow lunchtime. BTW they opened the pass for vehicular traffic yesterday.

I am going to pull for Kurt, I am sure Jefe is a really nice guy as well but Kurt stopped to say hello. And Kurt has gears to use on the last bit.
Bob Anderson looked in as good a shape as any who have stopped here and is giving away quite a few years.
I will also give a shout out for David Bruno, he also is a bit older and his suspension gave out just after the start.

Really nice guys I would second.
Rob Colliver is staying tonight, now he did have a beer, but he is English so fully aware of the importance of proper rehydration.
We have increased in temperature about 50 degrees from Monday. Not sure what is worse.
I would like to throw something out, struck me that a Cyclocross Bike would be best for this route, comments, thoughts?

I have had a bad spell with riders stopping. But Bob just left looking fit and clean. He accepted a Paulaner Lager. Hopefully not on the banned list.

The Euro Train stopped briefly, mechanical problems with a front brake.
Markus did not stop, I did see him cycle by.
Mike was in a bad way, thigh strapped up and ankle problems. He had a shower and a cup of tea. With milk. Pictures on the web site.
Next in David.

Hey cyn, Thanks for the info. On a side note is there any chance Gold Dust trail is ridable in a few days? You know since you up there riding Boreas pass Rd.
Woody
The pass officially opens on Friday for cars etc, there might still be a bit in the trees however on the trail.

Steve left very early this morning.
I am not sure about the time wasting, he got in eat and a phone call in 20 minutes, showered and crashed. Photo on website.
He arrived here at dusk left before dawn.
The 20 minutes would have been how long it would have taken his to set up and eat I would have thought. And how well would he have slept on the dirt with the temperature just above freezing and rain in the air?
I know Dave Bruno had been out every night until he got to us. He thought the leaders would end up chasing each other into the ground. Time will tell. He took the indoor option as he did not fancy hypothermia. Sleeping outside below freezing when it is snowing does not strike me as very sensible.
I forgot to mention the wind.....

Ethan just had breakfast, he spent the night in the old PO.
We went out looking for him at daybreak, cold and snowing, ice in the dog bowl.
Dave left about an hour ago.
